What I'm really up to...
So this is the blog where you get to find out about my real life, and not just see photos of Taiwan.
So without any further time wasting, here's my first newsletter...
Things are kindof plodding along as usual, I guess. I'm feeling a little uninspired at work, and finding it a bit tedious, to be honest. Recently, it was my birthday and I had a pretty standard 'ridiculous Friday' but on Saturday got to go out with my mates and play some paintball which is always a serious amount of fun! Otherwise, I've just offered to help out my church homegroup by playing guitar for worship in the meetings, although I don't want all the pressure and 'spiritual responsibility' of being worship leader. So I guess I'll just strum along while everyone else sings. So it's good that I've finally got something to light a fire under my butt, musically. I'm not good at self motivation, generally, so having the whole home group relying on me should be a better motivator. I guess my problem with my guitar is my sporadic interest in it! I get really inspired for a season, and then completely forget about it. I wish I could keep the motivation high for a more consistent period.
Financially, I'm due for a raise soon, so I'll be getting some more money (which I hope to save), which is always a nice thing. I've kindof got over the novelty of buying stuff, realising recently that it can't really bring me lasting satisfaction. As time wears on, I'm realising more and more that Jesus really is the 'living water' that he claims to be and that noone will thirst if they drink of him. So I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that lasting satisfaction in this life is only found in him... Which is partly why I'm trying to become more regular with my devotional times. I've got this whole 'hi-tec spirituality' thing going on except that I'm not really into 'spirituality' per se. Anyway, I have the bible on my iPod and I get daily Bible study podcasts, so I can read and listen at the same time anywhere (how 'Newsweek-cool' am I? ;) ). In reality though, I sometimes mismanage my time and don't get around to sitting down and listening to TheBibleStudy everyday, but when I do, it's great.
What else? Yes, 2 contemporaries of mine from university have arrived in Taichung, so it's been good showning Glen around, and seeing Jessica again.
Shux, I'm running out of news...
I guess I'll have to write more later!
